George Green LLP has appointed two associate solicitors as it continues to invest in the growth of...
The point of obtaining a joint valuation at the parties’ joint expense is to bring to an end any disagreement about the value of a particular asset. This is why when the parties jointly instruct a surveyor to act as their expert the decision made by that expert is binding upon them whether they like it or not.
If the valuation is quite out of date however and the property market has changed significantly since it was carried out it may be possible to agree or obtain a direction from the court that the original valuer should update the valuation figure. There will however be additional costs associated with this including the valuer’s fee and the costs of additional correspondence with the opposing solicitor/the court.
