Ant McPartlin: Fine of £86,000 for Drink Drive Offence

On 16 April 2018, television presenter Ant McPartlin pleaded guilty to one charge of drink-driving at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court; resulting in a £86,000 fine, a 20-month driving ban, and £255 in prosecution costs.

Ant McPartlin was involved in a collision with two other vehicles in Richmond, south-west London, at 4pm on 18 March 2018.  His mother was a passenger in his car at the time and several people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Mr McPartlin failed a roadside breathalyser test after the collision and reportedly had 75 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; which is more than twice the legal alcohol limit of 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.

James Lowe, George Green’s Regulatory and Licensing Partner commented “Ant McPartlin’s recent fine and driving ban emphasise the wide sentencing powers available to the court when dealing with drink drive and other motoring offences”.
