What is a Scott Schedule in Family Law proceedings?

Where the court is being asked to consider a finding of fact, the court will direct that a Scott Schedule is prepared in advance. The purpose of the schedule is to summarise and list allegations that need to be decided upon by the court.

Once prepared, the other party to the proceedings can then respond to the allegations in the schedule. The court will then have a clear picture of the allegations and responses and this will be used along with any statement and oral evidence at the Fact Finding Hearing.

The format of the Scott Schedule usually contains the number and description of the allegations, the date and any supporting evidence such as police, healthcare or school reports etc.
