Overview of Tim’s practice

Since joining George Green in 2003, Tim has built up a team which is regarded as one of the leading employment teams in the West Midlands.

From 2013 to 2023, Tim was a fee paid Employment Judge in the South East Region sitting at the Watford and Reading hearing centres.

Tim acts for employers and senior employees in a wide range of employment law matters including, in particular, transfers of undertakings, unfair dismissal, discrimination and breach of contract. Tim also qualified as a data protection practitioner in 2017 and advises regularly regarding data protection issues in employment including subject access requests.

Tim is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

Recent experience

  • Acted for a security company in relation to a complaint brought against four respondents (including the client) by a member of their security personnel complaining of disability discrimination, whistleblowing detriment and health and safety detriment, amongst other complaints.  Following three preliminary hearings, the team were successful in having all complaints struck out, save for the holiday pay complaint which was settled.  The claim involved complex issues in relation to disability discrimination.
  • Acted for a local manufacturer in relation to two Employment Tribunal complaints. One was a complaint for constructive unfair dismissal and age discrimination.  This claim was withdrawn prior to any hearing. The other was a complaint of unfair dismissal.  This case was also listed for a hearing and was successfully settled for a nominal sum.
  • The team were instructed by the US owners of a local manufacturer to give advice in relation to the closure of the UK workplace.  The team advised the US management team regarding the process redundancy consultations, service of notices etc.

Tim is married and has two sons and a daughter. Outside of work, he enjoys fitness training, golf, cycling and watching rugby and football.
