George Green Partner Becomes Qualified Data Protection Practitioner

George Green LLP Partner, Tim Lang, has recently become a qualified data protection practitioner.  This followed an intensive training course and passing an examination.

Mr Lang said: “Data protection law will be increasingly important following the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) in May 2018.  We at George Green are increasingly being asked by clients to assist them with preparation for the GDPR generally and this qualification will enable me to offer this service to clients.  In addition, speaking as an employment lawyer, data protection legislation is particularly significant for employers as they are likely to process significantly more data in relation to employees than in any other context.  It will be vital  for employment lawyers to have a good grasp of data protection law.

Businesses need to be taking the GDPR very seriously. The maximum penalty for non-compliance will increase from the current £500,000 to 20,000,000 euros or 4% of global turnover if that is higher”.
