A team from George Green LLP has taken part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge raising money for the law firm’s charity of the year, Leapgate.

On Saturday 15^th June, a team from George Green LLP took on the challenge starting at 6am trekking up Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, covering 25 miles in challenging terrain and for the last 4 hours encountered horrendous weather, but the team completed the challenge; and in under 12 hours.

Emma Fawkes-Underwood, Commercial Property Associate, who co-ordinated the firm’s efforts said “It was great that we had so many keen participants from across the firm for the challenge, including some for whom this was very much outside of their comfort zone - 11 to 12 hours up and down these peaks is not necessarily for the feint hearted. It was a great day albeit I didn’t quite get the weather order right!“

David Stevenson, George Green’s Chief Executive commented “I am keen that when it comes to those of our core values such as respect and co-operation that we walk the talk; or in this case hike the talk! A respect for the needs of others and the position of privilege we occupy means that we are committed to supporting each year our chosen charity. Undertaking the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge was a great way to do this as whilst we were able to raise some money we were able at the same time to come together as a team and, vitally, have some fun along the way along the way – even if the day after we were nursing some aches and pains!”

The team exceeded their fund raising target of £1,000, coming in with an amazing £3,235!

Leapgate is a recently established charity whose aim is to provide educational and vocational training and support to adults with learning disabilities. The vision at Leapgate is to build, operate and expand a facility capable of delivering activities for adults in the Worcestershire area.   These activities will be constantly evolving and wide ranging, examples being animal care, catering, crafts, horticulture, woodworking and indoor sports.  It is hoped the trek will raise much needed funds that will help Leapgate to deliver its aims.
