George Green Lawyers Recognised as Leading Practitioners

November has once again seen the publication of the latest edition of Chambers & Partners, one of the leading Law Firm Directories, which benchmarks lawyers and law firms using a market research based model.

The 2019 edition of Chambers & Partners has confirmed the success of George Green’s strategy, which puts clients first, with a number of its senior lawyers being awarded “notable practitioner” status following the researchers’ enquiries of the firm’s clients and other market participants.

The firm’s corporate group had particularly strong reviews which saw it retain its top spot as the West Midlands leading law firm for transactions in the owner managed businesses sector.

Sources quoted in the independent research said of the corporate team “They are extremely adaptable and have an understanding of the challenges faced by SMEs.”

Corporate partners Guy Green and Paul Bennett were each awarded the coveted “notable practitioner” status with Guy being described by clients as “the very best of what the regional markets offer” adding that “he is brilliant technically and solutions orientated.”

Clients are quoted as praising the firm’s dispute resolution team as “reactive, proactive and readily available” adding “the lawyers provide a personal service whilst retaining a high quality at a reasonable price.

Dispute resolution partners, Neil Williams and Morgan Rees are each singled out as leaders in their field. Of Neil Williams, the feedback Chambers has says: "a very experienced pair of hands who has seen and done it all before” adding “ Neil brings a calm measured and realistic approach to his cases ,informed by the wisdom of experience.”  Chambers describes Morgan Rees as “a bright, well organised hard working and conscientious litigator who maintains a good commend of his cases.” Further comment on Morgan includes “he’s very shrewd and he’s got a keen commercial judgement.”

The firm’s employment law chief, Tim Lang, is referred to by clients as “absolutely outstanding” and another observes “he understands business law and he’s very pragmatic.”

The firm’s real estate lawyers also come in for praise with one client enthusing “They are communicative, pragmatic and accessible.” Real Estate head Kevin Styles is awarded “notable practitioner” status with sources saying “he’s incredibly efficient and capable and the quality of his work is excellent.

The firm’s strong showing follows on from the praise the firm’s private client team received in Chambers earlier “High Net Worth” adviser’s publication which quoted client feedback as saying “They genuinely care about their clients and help ensure they receive the most appropriate advice. They have always been very professional and supportive. Clients feel comfortable and trust their advice.” Private Client head Claire Pottinger is named a “notable practitioner” and described as “very professional and approachable and is clearly respected by her team.”

Feedback on the team reported by the Chambers’reseachers includes “they take a friendly and pragmatic view. They will tell you whether it is advisable to fight or whether it is more sensible to negotiate.” Further praise for the team’s approach comes with the service being described as “exemplary” and “compassionate but realistic.”
