George Green Launch Their 2018 Vacation Placement Scheme

The leading law firm George Green launched its 2018 undergraduate student vacation scheme this week.

During the next few weeks a number of law students will be spending time with the firm. The programme involves students spending time with Partners and Lawyers in the various departments at George Green including Corporate, Commercial Property and Dispute Resolution.

Each year George Green takes on a number of trainee solicitors and the idea of the vacation placement scheme is to give those aspiring to become trainees at the firm a chance to have a preview of what training at the firm will involve.

David Stevenson, Chief Executive of George Green explained further “the success of our business is dependent on the quality of our lawyers and to a large part that is dependent on recruiting and training the best of the best. Vitally, however, we are keen to take into our community trainees that share the type of values that we see as key in enabling us to carry out our stated mission of making a difference by helping our clients succeed.”

Stevenson continued "the firm and indeed the applicant can only learn so much from the traditional recruitment process of application and interview. Our vacation placement scheme enables students to have a genuine taster of what we at George Green are about whilst at the same time enabling us a much better opportunity to make the right recruitment decisions; that is right for our clients."

Alex-Jayne Lowe,Commercial Property specialist at George Green and partner responsible for graduate recruitment added “the vacation placement scheme is a key plank in our recruitment process and we were overwhelmed both by the number and quality of the applications we received .The law remains a popular choice of profession for young people and we are keen to offer opportunities to them to join us and develop their careers."

Laura Crackle, who graduates from Birmingham University Law school next year said “I have had a great week with George Green spending time with a wide range of lawyers from trainees to partners across many of the firm’s teams. The vacation placement scheme is a brilliant opportunity to experience what actually goes on day to day in a commercial law firm and in particular to witness how the skills we learn in the class room get to be applied in practice. I especially enjoyed the chance this placement gave me to sit in on client meetings."

George  Green is now inviting applications for trainee positions starting in September 2020 with the application process closing on the 30th June 2018. Further details can be found on its web site at http://www.georgegreen.co.uk/site/recruitment/trainee-information/

Applications for the firm’s 2019 Summer Vacation Placement will open in January 2019.
