George Green Expands Dispute Resolution Team With Senior Hire

George Green has continued to sign up the best talent on the market as Liam Owen joins its Litigation and Dispute Resolution team as an Associate.

Liam joins from a specialist litigation firm and has a particular expertise in construction related disputes. Shortly before joining the firm, Liam enjoyed a resounding success in the Technology and Construction Court on the summary judgment of an adjudication decision for more than £1.4m plus interest. The case was reported at RGB P&C Ltd v Victory House General Partner Ltd [2019] EWHC 1188 (TCC) (10 May 2019).

He hit the ground running at George Green. Just last week one of his clients wholly resisted a £250,000 claim whilst being awarded £130,000 in an adjudication concerning the construction of a hotel in Oxford.

Liam has a stellar reputation, having been recommended by the Legal Directories for many years as a “Next Generation” solicitor and as “Up and Coming”. The directories say he "displays great tenacity and understands how judges think" and is "confident, responsive, knowledgeable and commercially aware".

Liam’s construction expertise goes hand in hand with the procurement work carried out by Neil Williams, the firm’s head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution, and further reinforces the firm’s reputation as among the best in the Midlands.

Liam acts for both claimant and defendant clients on such matters as professional negligence claims, breach of contract claims, insolvency-related disputes, and company disputes between directors and shareholders.

Liam commented “I’m delighted to be at George Green and to be working with such a high quality team. Both the litigation team and the firm generally are top-notch, and I look forward to many successful years to come here”.

Liam continued “I hope to put my experience of successfully resolving construction disputes for clients to good use here, and add something different to this very strong litigation department.”

Neil Williams George Green’s Head of Dispute Resolution said “The Legal 500 confirms our status as one of the leading litigation teams in the West Midlands. Liam’s appointment builds on this reputation as well as bolstering our capabilities”.

Chief Executive David Stevenson said “If we are to deliver on our mission of making a difference by helping our clients gain a competitive edge, then we need the best of the best on the team and we are fortunate in this respect to have attracted to the firm a lawyer of Liam’s calibre.”
