Parents who fail to pay child maintenance could be given lower credit rating under new powers to come into effect next year.
The old Child Support Agency and the new Child Maintenance Service will share details of defaulters with credit reference agencies. This could affect the defaulting parent's chances of borrowing money or being given a mortgage in the future.
