Incapacity Crisis

This week Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) launched their campaign raising awareness of the importance of health and welfare Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA), with the report The Incapacity Crisis – a nation unprepared.

The new report from SFE revealed that the UK is leaving medical and care preferences to chance.

A recent found that 98% of people in West Midlands area have not made the  necessary provision, should they lose capacity from conditions like dementia which is a disease associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills which can be severe enough to reduce a person's ability to perform everyday activities.

36% of participants in the study admitted to having made no provisions at all for later life, including a will, pension, funeral plan or LPA.

An LPA is arguably the most important document an individual can have. If you have children, own a home, or have views on your preferred health treatment, we urge you to go to an expert to get the right advice.
