Drinkers fined after being found in pub 'watching TV with staff'

The Plough Inn in Nottinghamshire has been found to be in breach of the current Covid restrictions. They were found to have allowed customers to drink and watch television with a member of staff.

The police fined the owners £1000 and seven members of staff and customers were each fined £200 for flouting the rules. In addition to the fines, the operator of the pub has been served with a prohibition notice which means that it cannot serve food and drink on the premises until further notice.

During the current lockdown in England, hospitality venues such as restaurants, cafes and pubs must close. However, takeaway food and deliveries are still permitted.

Lockdown reviews were initially scheduled to take place every two weeks when the tiering system was in place. It is not known when the current restrictions will end or what restrictions they will be replaced with.
