What is a chain of transactions?

A train of transactions occurs when there are multiple transactions that are all linked and all need to conclude on the same day.

Unless you are a first time buyer, it is likely that when you go to buy a new property, you will need to sell your old property. If the person buying your property is also selling their property, a chain begins to form. A property chain begins with a buyer who is not selling, and ends with a seller who is not buying. There is no maximum number of people that can be in a chain.

The longer the chain becomes, the higher the risk becomes that something may go wrong. If one transaction falls through, the chain will break and may prevent all of the other transactions from going through.
