Vape Store Fined by Trading Standards for Selling Nicotine Vape Products to an Underage Person

On 8 April 2019, Cloud Chaser Limited, trading as Infinity Mist, pleaded guilty to three offences including selling nicotine vape liquid to a 15 year old in August 2018.

The sale of any nicotine inhaling products to people under the age of 18 is prohibited under the Nicotine Inhaling Products (Age of Sale and Proxy Purchasing) Regulations 2015.

The other two offences, under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016, related to the lack of instructions and labelling for the vape liquid.

Mohammed Shehzad Ghani and Fesal Sohail, directors of the company, also pleaded guilty to the two offences in relation to the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016.

The company was fined £660 and ordered to pay costs of £509.40 to the local authority and a victim surcharge of £66.

Each of the directors was fined £250 and ordered to pay the Council’s costs of £400 and a victim surcharge of £30.

Councillor Eluned Stenner, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Public Protection said, “As a council we are committed in making sure the Caerphilly county borough is a healthy, safe and fair place to live. Our Trading Standards department is crucial in making sure this happens by stopping crime and disorder through prosecutions like this.”
