Shop licence revoked after underage alcohol sales

Spar Groceries, in Raglan Terrace, has lost its licence to sell alcohol. The shop in question sold alcohol to a 16 year old test purchaser who was sent in to the property by North Yorkshire County Council’s  Trading Standards officers.

18 days prior to the sale of alcohol to the girl, the shop had also sold alcohol and cigarettes to a 17-year-old boy.

The licence holder and designated premises supervisor (DPS) was named as Mohammed Hussain.

The breaches happened in September and October 2018. The Council’s licensing sub-committee revoked the shop’s licence to sell alcohol.

The girl was asked for identification which showed she was 16 but she was still sold alcohol.
