If you are considering starting divorce proceedings, you may have concerns in relation to the cost of the process and how these costs will be met.

In order to send a Divorce Petition to the Court, there is a Court fee of £550. This is a standard fee that will not differ dependent on, for example, the Solicitors you chose or where in the country you live. If you are on a low income there is a possibility you may be entitled to a reduction or exemption of this fee.

A Petitioner in a divorce can request that their spouse contributes towards the costs that they have incurred. The contribution can be agreed between the parties or assessed by the Court if required.
