'For Richer, For Poorer'- Money Worries & Marriage

New research has shown that financial difficulties is one of the most cited reasons behind the breakdown of a marriage. In fact, the same research suggests that over 1 in 10 married couples may divorce in 2018 due to concerns regarding money.

It can be easy to see how financial problems may place a great strain on a married couple. One party may, for example, feel resentment towards the other for not earning a sufficient amount or there may be arguments as to what money is spent on and how savings are made. Financial problems can also cause a significant amount of stress and place great pressure on an individual; in turn this can have a negative effect upon their relationship.

George Green LLP’s Family law department regularly meet with clients who list financial difficulties as a reason behind the breakdown of their relationship.  If you would like further information in respect of separation or divorce proceedings please contact Alex Mansfield on 01902 328365 or at amansfield@georgegreen.co.uk.
