£8,000 fine for Food Hygiene Breach

Greene King Retail Limited, the operator of a Dudley pub, has been fined £8,000 following an inspection by Environmental Health Officers at the Bramford Arms in October 2019.  During the inspection evidence of mice was found at the premises.

Environmental health officers reviewed pest records which identified that there had been a problem with mice in the dry stores at the property since July 2019. Enquiries identified that appropriate actions had not been taken to deal with the issues.

Greene King Retail Ltd, pleaded guilty to a single offence under food hygiene regulations at Dudley Magistrates Court in March 2021. The company was fined £8,000 and ordered to pay court costs of £2,107 and a victim surcharge of £170.

In its mitigation the company explained to the court that the problems should have been addressed by the local management team, which had been replaced since the incident.
