TV Presenter, Chris Tarrant, fined and banned from roads for a year after pleading guilty to an offence of drink driving.

Chris Tarrant has been fined £6,000 and banned from driving for 12 months, after pleading guilty to driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.

Police officers called at the TV Presenter’s home on 16 December 2017, after being notified by a member of the public.

Tarrant had attended the Bladebone Inn in Bucklebury earlier that day and, after being served four alcoholic drinks, he drove himself home.

Having taken a breathalyser test registering 50 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath (above the 35 microgram limit), the TV Presenter pleaded guilty to the offence when appearing at Reading Magistrates’ Court.

After the hearing, Tarrant explained that he “honestly didn’t think [he] was over”.

James Lowe, George Green’s Regulatory and Licensing Partner, stated that “This incident coincided with the 2017 publicity campaign, launched by police forces across the country, to raise awareness of the issues associated with drink and drug driving. It is important to understand that there is no safe way to calculate how much alcohol you can drink, whilst remaining below the legal limit to drive”.
