Gemma Fenton

Family Partner

Gemma has over 15 years’ experience in practising Family Law in Warwickshire, the West Midlands and Birmingham. Gemma is a long standing member of Resolution and also sits on the regional committee for Resolution West Midlands, and as such is well known in the Family Law community and often has prior experience of working with opponent solicitors in the region, as well as barristers and experts.

Gemma has expertise in a wide variety of family law issues but particularly specialises in advising and supporting clients in relation to the financial implications of their relationship breakdown.

Gemma is able to offer clients detailed advice about their legal entitlements involved with the division of matrimonial property, pensions, and the family income for themselves and for any children.

Gemma is known to be able to guide clients confidently yet calmly through the divorce process and the various Court hearings that may arise if their case is litigated. Gemma is also a qualified Solicitor-Advocate, so is often able to undertake the advocacy and represent clients herself at Court to ensure continuity of strategy.

Gemma’s role also includes advising on disputes that arise between separated parents about arrangements for their children. As a parent herself, Gemma finds it immensely satisfying to assist and support Family Law clients during one of life's most stressful and painful experiences and see them come out the other side with contentment and renewed hope for their children and their future.

Gemma understands that no two families are ever the same and from the initial consultation onwards Gemma takes the time to get to know every new client and understand their individual priorities and concerns. Gemma is then able to provide targeted and cost-effective advice to suit the client’s particular circumstances.

Gemma has been consistently recognised in industry directory Legal 500 year on year since 2016 and since 2021 as a “Rising Star” and is currently described as a go-to for complicated corporate structures, trust assets and pensions”.

Gemma’s recent client testimonial from the latest edition of Legal 500 reads ‘Gemma Fenton used her excellent legal knowledge and experience to counsel and guide me through the process. Always approachable, realistic, supportive and able to clearly set out the options every step of the way, you know that Gemma has your very best interests at the core of her work’.

Gemma has also been recognised in the Chambers and Partners directory since 2021 and most recently as an “Associate to Watch” in 2022 when she was described as ‘a talented lawyer who has real gravitas with clients...
