Westley Engineering Ltd Completes Acquisition of Pressings

Birmingham engineering firm, Westley Engineering Ltd, have just completed the acquisition of the pressings business from James Hutton Pressings Ltd, Bordesley Green for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition, advised by leading Black Country law firm George Green LLP, will see the employees and assets of the James Hutton Pressings business move across to Westley Engineering’s purpose-built 20,000 square-foot site which is located just over two miles away in Aston.

Westley Engineering is one of only a handful of companies of this size in the Midlands to hold both automotive and aerospace quality certifications – TS16949 and AS9100. This purchase reflects Westley Engineering’s expansion strategy of purchasing bolt-on businesses which are already in their area of expertise to widen its customer base and offer a truly one-stop service - from tool design to tool manufacture and contract pressings.

Trevor Smelt, Managing Director of Westley Engineering Ltd commented “We feel the acquisition is a great fit for us and we are delighted to have retained all the staff from James Hutton Pressings. This exciting development is a big step forward and will see us grow both our revenue and workforce by around 35%.”

James Hutton Pressings Ltd will continue to trade with their remaining line of work, Expanded Polystyrene, from the same premises.
