Undefended Divorces

It has widely been reported this week that former World Champion boxer David Hay and his wife were not required to attend court for the pronouncement of their Decree Nisi of divorce.

Most divorces are now undefended and it is usually the case that neither party will need to attend court at any point during the divorce.  This is in fact the norm.

In almost all cases the costs associated with defending a divorce are simply not justifiable when you consider that the reason for the divorce generally has no impact whatsoever on how the financial aspects of the divorce are decided.  The fact that is relied upon is just the vehicle that persuades the court that there is no hope for the marriage.  There is no need for matters to become unnecessarily contentious.
